Guthrie-based Equine Therapy Center receives grant from national foundation
2.11.2010
Guthrie-based Equine Therapy Center is one of ten organizations selected from around the nation to receive a grant from the W.H.O. (Women Helping Others) Foundation through the foundation’s “10 of 2010” program.
Equine Therapy Center, which uses horses to help at-risk children learn to make positive choices, received a $9,000 grant. The grant will be used for program expenses to help Equine Therapy Center continue to reach youth at risk for drug abuse, incarceration and gang involvement in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas.
“The funds we receive from the W.H.O. Foundation will help provide care for the horses, which in turn will greatly benefit the at-risk children in our program,” said Prim Cockrell, Equine Therapy Center’s director.
