Locally owned businesses will be stops on "Millionaire for a Day: the Amazing LOCAL Race" Oct. 9. The free, adventure race-style event will include a concert and party at the finish line.
Contestants will compete against other teams by gathering clues and completing tasks, seeking to make it to the finish line on Ninth Street in Automobile Alley first. The concert and party will begin at 7 p.m., featuring Aranda, Denver Duncan and DJ Neu.
Winners will be given a prize package that includes a variety of products and services provided by OKC businesses.
The race is designed to make the community aware of the benefits of buying locally owned products and services, said Lori Ford, Oklahoma Employees Credit Union social media strategist and event planner.
"I think people don't really understand that they can change the way money is distributed in Oklahoma by buying local," she said.
