Devon Energy has been named one of ten companies in The BCA Ten: Best Companies Supporting the Arts in America. Americans for the Arts will honor the 10 recipients for their exceptional commitment to the arts in the United States on Nov. 4 at the Central Park Boathouse in New York City.

Devon was nominated for this prestigious award by Allied Arts, and is the first Oklahoma company to receive this award.

"While Devon has been a faithful financial contributor to Allied Arts and many of our community's arts organizations, they also look for opportunities to help build the infrastructure our community needs to support the arts well into the future," said Deborah McAuliffe Senner, president and CEO of Allied Arts. "We are thankful for Devon's strong example of how corporate involvement and support of the arts helps our communities, our economy and our people thrive."

Devon's broad vision for arts includes promoting the arts across social and generational lines, partnering to improve public venues, investing in efforts to promote diversity and accessibility, and reaching out to school children.

"We believe that one of the best ways to teach our children about the value of their heritage is through the arts," said Larry Nichols, Devon's executive chairman. "If we can do that, we will have set in motion a legacy that will help shape Oklahoma's destiny for many generations to come."
