The Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission recently won the Most Innovative State Program Award during the National Association of State Aviation Officials' Annual Conference in Wichita, Kan.

The commission won for its web-based airport infrastructure management system, which allows the agency to monitor more closely pavement deterioration and effectiveness on runways at general aviation airports statewide. This system expands upon traditional methods by incorporating structural and geotechnical data and analysis tools, using custom state-of-the-art software developed by the University of Oklahoma. It has served as a model for aviation agencies across the nation.

Dale Williams, OAC airport development manager, was also the recipient of the association's State Aviation Distinguished Service Award, which honors personnel who have excelled in service and dedication to industry progress.
