budget of more than $919 million June 14 for fiscal year 2011-2012,
which begins July 1.

Members of the Oklahoma City Council unanimously approved a city
budget of more than $919 million June 14 for fiscal year 2011-2012,
which begins July 1. By state law, the city is required to adopt an
annual budget.
Of the total budget, $364 million will be in the general fund, and $571 million will be in the operating budget. The general fund expenditures are divided four ways. The largest amount of the general fund, 64 percent, will go to public safety, while 16 percent will go to public services, 10 percent to culture and recreation, and 10 percent to general government.
