Two Oklahoma City-based companies were named on Computerworld’s annual list of 100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology for 2012. Chesapeake Energy Corp. made the list at No. 9, and American Fidelity Assurance Company came in at No. 27.
When ranked by company size, AFA was sixth in the small company category, and Chesapeake was fifth for large companies.
“Making the Computerworld list recognizes the more than 200 colleagues in our information services division and motivates them to continue making AFA a great place to work in IT,” said Kim Fisher, AFA chief information officer. “It also helps us recruit top talent in the field and highlights our commitment to success.”
The list was compiled from questionnaires about company benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention of talent. IT workers were surveyed, and their responses weighed heavily in the final rankings.
The list showed Chesapeake had 563 total IT employees. In 2011, the company reported a 6-percent turnover in IT employees while 12 percent of IT employees last year received promotions.
At American Fidelity, there were 148 IT employees with a five-percent employee turnover rate and a five-percent promotion rate in 2011.
